Crewing some Bundeswehr Vehicles

In my ongoing effort to "finish" things I've gone back and added some necessary crew to a few vehicles - starting with an S&S Models Iltis:

The figure in the back an Elhiem MG3 gunner, as well as the Elhiem driver.  I've added some stowage in the back and then covered it in a cam net.  Kind of a waste of stowage!

Next up is an S&S Models M113G Panzermorser:

Here I simply added a single standing Bundeswehr mortar crewman from Elhiem.  There is really only room for one anyway.

Finally my conversion of an Italeri M106, into a M113G Panzermorser got two crew added:

This time I was able to add two Elhiem Bundeswehr mortar crewmen - one standing and one kneeling.  As I had complete access to the interior of the M113, the kneeling chap was able to fit inside - and looks pretty good!

That's it for this week - more on Monday

Self-Propelled Mortar Collection

Just for a bit of fun I got all my self-propelled mortars out for a look - now the "set" is complete.  this does not of course mean it won't ever be added to - but the SP mortars for my 4 main forces are now done.

From left to right there are 2 S&S Models US Army M106s, the a single Italeri (conversion) West German Panzermorser, then a Soviet ACE Models 2S9 Nona, a S&S Models West German panzermorser and then finally 2 Britannia FV432M.

Quite a useful little bunch of models...

Thanks

Richard

M113G Panzermorser - Final Part

Everytime I organise a game, I try and use something new or add something to the list that I haven't yet completed.  That way I use the upcoming game as a deadline to try and get things completed by.  In the last game I decided to give my West Germans a boost, and use the game as a boost to finish off several models that I had already built, but never got around to painting.  And to top it off I decided to include a M113G Panzermorser (self-propelled mortar), which I had not even put together, let alone done the necessary conversion work on.  As I said in earlier posts, this is based on the Italeri M106.

The work-in-progress of the build can be found here at Part 1, Part 2 and at Part 3.

So the Panzermorser is now finished... Well actually the two halves are still seperate and it is not crewed... so it's as finished as it's going to be for a while anyway.  Here it is:

That's it for now.

Thanks

M113G Panzermorser W-I-P Part 3

Very short post today - just showing some progress:

As you can see the insides have been touched up, the NATO brown cam stripes have been added to the hull, I've also painted the hatch doors, and started work on the cam netting.  Should be finshed shortly, but won't be 100% finalised until I work out how to crew it.

Happy to take suggestions, as right now it's either using Elhiem British BAOR mortar crew with head swaps of maybe looking at some German WW2 120mm mortar crew with head swaps.  Apart from that I'm drawing a blank.

Thanks

Richard

M113G Panzermorser W-I-P Part 2

So things continue...

The Harrier hides are completed - I'm just waiting for the right day (read better weather) to take some photos.  In the meantime I did further work on the M113G Panzermorser over the weekend, along with a couple of other things which will shortly make an appearance.

Back to the Panzermorser.  The first thing to do was to add the cam netting - which would of course cover half the detail I added!  Oh well - I wasn't real happy with the smoke grenade dischargers anway - too skinny...

Once dried, I undercoated the M113 in black and then sprayed the outside NATO Green and the inside white:

Of course I forgot to spray the two main hatch doors...

I then started to do a bit of work on the inside, and painted the first NATO camo stripes on the outside in black:

This is how the whole thing looks right now:

Still a fair way to go - but progress is being made...

That's all for now

M113G Panzermorser W-I-P

Today I ended up quite unexpectedly spending 1/2 the day at home.  So instead of actually finishing something like a normal person would - I started something new!

A few months back I picked up a couple of these quite cheaply:

And I had a cunning plan - to modify them into M113G Panzermorsers like these:

So after fiddling around for a few hours - this is what I came up with:

Still very much a W-I-P but I'm pretty happy with how it's looking thus far.

More soon

Thanks

Richard
